Found this inspirational video on the effects of autism today, and felt it would be highly beneficial to me and my practice when I'm illustrating my essay piece.

Study task 4
Part 1
http://www.itsnicethat.com
I've chosen this website because I feel its been the most beneficial to me and my practice over the last few weeks. It shows whats current, and not just in illustration but in other artistic fields too. Its important to be aware of other illustrators practices, and i feel this website keeps me up to date with their work, and also whats going on in the world of illustration. I find the articles about illustration highly influential and really inspirational to read. I always feel inspired after being on this website, and it seems to spark ideas left right and centre after seeing such beautiful illustrations by such talented people. Its useful to see what other practitioners get up to, and it makes me realise that so much is possible. If I'm ever stuck for idea, i know that i can be filled with creative energy after reading a few articles or watching an animation on here. Its an online gallery that I can trust. Websites such as these are highly important, and I aspire to have my work on something like this in the future.

Zines are a perfect way of showing people what you're all about. They're a great form of publication because they can take any form, and any topic. From music to comedy, there's a zine for everyones interests. I feel they are becoming more and more recognised as the creative industry grows. Its almost as though they're just a small sample of what the artist is really capable of, a slight insight into their mind and the way they work. Zines have an original and raw quality to them, and when you hold one in your hand you feel you have your very own piece of art. I would love to make more zines.

Illustrating on skateboard and longboard decks has been something I've loved doing since getting into illustration. Skateboarding is its own culture, and with it comes its own style. Designing decks is something i feel confident in doing and is something that won't ever really go out of fashion. They can be mass produced or originals, and the facts that the canvas you're working on rarely changes, its easier to get an idea of layout and composition the more you do. Adding passion to what I draw always results in a better outcome. I love to skate, i love to draw, they come hand in hand.

Murals make for a brighter world in my opinion. They give dark and dingy places life. I love looking for murals when I'm out and about. I also find it fascinating how illustrators can work on such a large scale. Its art for the people, and the communities, and thats why i think its great. Art is so much better when it can be shared.
This is a mural by Jon Burgerman, and a perfect example of art being the light in a dark place.
Here's a few from around Leeds that I cant help but smile at when I walk past.
Murals are important to me and my practice, because it makes me realise that anything is possible, that limitations have the potential to be thrown out of the window. They inspire me to think bigger and better.

Colossal is one of my all time favourite websites to browse. Its a hub for creativity. Not only does it show art and illustrations, but it also shows peoples personal projects - often highly ingenious and massively inventive. It's my go to visual dictionary, and it never ceases to inspire me. I feel that this website is filtered to such a high standard, and to be featured on it would have to be an honour. It has something to offer everyone, and is mainly based on creativity and ideas. For example :
This is completely created with a bicycle wheel. Its by an artist named Thomas Yang. Its seeing things like this that make you think outside of the box, and for me, makes me realise that when it comes to my work, restrictions are limited. Creativity is everything.

Pinterest.
I set up a new pinterest account the other day to keep all of my work and inspirations in one place. I had a previous account where I would pin specific images in relation to the set briefs we were given, but I think its a good idea to keep all things like that together, therefore this blog will help me massively and keep my research a lot more organised. Here's a few of the boards I've created thus far.
