Start up Wednesdays- Do you have what it takes?

Decided to give these a go this year, as working for myself is something I am really interested in, and in the long run I would love to set up my own business.

Do you have what it takes was a good introduction to the programme.
Its important to have confidence, good organisation, motivation, communication, to be focused and to be OPTIMISTIC when setting up your own business. Being resourceful is key, and its really important that you don't lose sight of the core of what you do. Take risks- nothing will move forward if you always play it safe. Start local, scale up- push the boundaries.
Think strategically. Look for gaps in the market and stay up to date with what the consumers want and need.

The main thing I took away from this session was the importance of VALUES.

My 3 core values are

1- Making a difference
2- Empathy
3- Positivity

What ever I do, I want it to evoke positive social change. I want to work closely with people to make a difference in our world.

ILLUSTRATOR OTW

TOM HAUGOMAT

Really loving the minimal colour used by Haugomat. Limited colour palette mixed with the powerful use of negative space makes his illustrations really stand out to me. Super atmospheric.
His compositions are so well though out, especially the image below. Line of sight draws you to the focus of the image, its done so well.

To consider in my own work...

-Minimal colour
-The power of negative space
- Line of sight and composition.

PPP workshop

Sometimes I find it difficult to think about stuff like this, because Im not really the sort of person that likes to have a plan. I know this is probably going to make me fail PPP.

Possible Options and thoughts-
I like the idea of having plenty of options when I finish...

-I like the idea of setting up my own business, something that benefits a community of people. Going to the start up Wednesdays should really help me hone this down.
-I know I want to travel when I finish, but the idea of free lancing really scares me.
Teaching abroad could be something to think about. There must be places I could teach English and illustration combined?

SO MUCH TO THINK ABOUT. (Not scared at all though...)
