I made myself a website last year, but never posted it anywhere for people to look at. Partly because I don't think I was ready to share it, partly because I thought it could be better.
Above is a screen shot of my website.
Things that could be improved
- The work showcased is from various years. Its not all current, which I think shows. As I progress on the course, so does the quality in my work. I would like my website to be as up to date at possible, with my current interests and values running throughout.
- Theres too much going on. It should be a selective showcase of my best work, not just any work.
- The 'About me' section is in first person, but perhaps should be in third.
- Headers should be 'work' and 'about' and then 'contact' and thats it. Keep it simple and to the point.
Examples of websites that I think work really well-
I also thing having a moving element on the homepage is a really good idea. It shows that you're current, and it really captures the audience
Atelier Bingo just has his name changing fonts, but its really eye catching, and makes a change from you usual website.
When I get round to changing my website I will keep all of these thoughts in mind, and try to
be different and unique, whilst maintaining the soul and purpose of the website.
At the moment I don't feel ready, but I feel positive that this year I will make some great work that I will be happy to showcase. Its close- but Im not quite there yet.
