This was probably the most inspiring lecture I've ever been to. I came out feeling so completely different to when I entered.
He made me realise that illustration can be taken anywhere, can be done anywhere and can touch people anywhere. I often get worried about being stuck in one place when I finish uni, as I want to travel whenever I can. The fact that he creates these amazingly contextual illustrations from all over the world is something I definitely want to start considering.
Ive always wanted to work towards something that makes a difference, or that raises awareness, and this is exactly what he does. What really struck me, was that he talked through each illustration perfectly, remembering every detail about his subjects. He doesn't just do it as a job, its something he really cares about, which really showed. Including type in his work gives the images much more depth, and a good background and story for the viewers. When tackling sensitive subjects, this technique must be useful.
On the whole, I'm just incredibly inspired after hearing him talk.
