For the last few weeks Ive been really thinking about all of the crazy opportunities that are out there for when I finish college. Im scared, because I absolutely love college.
Which is part of the reason I have been talking to the tutors about getting a creative in residence opportunity for the illustration course. Every other course offers this after college opportunity, and I think it would be really great if our course could do the same.
Reasons for wanting this-
- I will have access to the university facilities for an extra 3 months, which would allow me some valuable time to build my portfolio.
- I will be able to build on my documentary illustrations, with the time to actually experience what I document at the same time, as I wouldn't be timetabled to go in.
- I enjoy being in the studio. I love to work hard, and think I would really make use of the opportunity.
- It allows me a little more time to figure out what I want to do, whilst improving as an illustrator.
- I will still be in an environment with plenty of creative input and inspiration, and for now I think I need that.
- It would mean I could have the summer to gather stories and experience real life things that I can then later document.
- Screen print and digital print facilities would be invaluable.
I really hope this is something that will happen. I think there would still be an application process of it was to go through, but I would try really really hard to get it, as its definitely something I want right now.
